Beth Ann Zarkin

Dr. Beth Ann Ditkoff is a medical writer and former surgeon.

She was educated at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. In 1985, she received her undergraduate degree from Yale University. In 1989, she received an MD degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her surgical training at Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. Her maiden name is Beth Ann Zarkin.

Dr. Ditkoff is a former Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery, Columbia University, College of Physicians & Surgeons where she specialized in surgical breast oncology.She is the author of more than 50 original publications and abstracts.

In 2000, Dr. Ditkoff co-authored The Thyroid Guide(HarperCollins) with Paul LoGerfo, MD, a lay persons guide to thyroid disease.

In 2008, Dr. Ditkoff collaborated with her two daughters (Andrea and Julia Ditkoff) to write Why Don’t Your Eyelashes Grow (Penguin Group USA), a list of questions children commonly ask their parents regarding the mysteries of the human body and their scientifically correct answers.
